Experience

I have taught for 25 years. In that time, I have covered all subjects for students in grades one through eight. I have also worked everywhere from inner city school districts to suburban schools and rural districts. My main focus is reading and writing, at any level, but I also teach math (elementary and middle school), American literature, grammar, vocabulary, creative writing, and essay editing. I can also assist with ACT, PSAT, and SAT test preparation. I take pride in teaching difficult subjects in a way they become clear, by using a multiple intelligence approach in class or privately. If you take an entire group of students, you will see that every individual learns best in their own way.It is my goal to help your child find success, and to find their ability to excel in a subject no matter what it is. I earned my Bachelor of Arts in English Literature from Kenyon College, in Gambier, Ohio, and received my master's degree in Elementary Education from John Carroll University, located in University Heights, Ohio. When not in the classroom or tutoring privately, I like going to concerts and plays, trying out new restaurants, and traveling whenever it is possible.
